YOGA FOR HEALTHY AGING; Stillness into Movement
This practice is for all ages and all abilities. The class is a combination of warmups, Yin Yoga and a more active practice (Yang) to target the connective tissue (fascia), joints, ligaments and tendons. Yin is a style of yoga that helps the tendons and ligaments lengthen and strengthen. Yin postures are held 3-5 minutes.
Moving from there, we will warm up the muscles with a more active Yang practice to get the circulation and breath flowing. We will close by moving into stillness with a guided relaxation or silent meditation.
In this process students will increase flexibility, strength and revitalize the body.
Yoga postures (asanas) and breathing improve insomnia, quickly improve posture, alleviate pain, focus the mind, reduce stress, help digestion, and reduce back and joint pain.
This class also emphasizes breath and the use of basic opposition in the body to create stability and balance.
Lucy always offers modifications for students of various abilities.
This class incorporates the evidenced-based Yoga Warriors Method:
slow, rhymic movements with positive affirmations.
